School AnnualEducation Report (AER) Cover Letter
Date posted: August 15, 2013
Dear Parents and Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2012-2013 educational progress for the Ojibwe Charter School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, accountability and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Stephanie Vittitow for assistance.
The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following website http://ojibwe.schoolwires.net/site/default.aspx?PageID=1 or you may review a copy in the principal’s office at your child’s school.
The state has identified some schools with the status of Reward, Focus or Priority. A Reward school is one that is out performing other schools in achievement, growth, or is performing better than other schools with a similar student population. A Focus school is one that has a large achievement gap in 30% of it’s student achievement scores. A Priority school is one whose achievement and growth is in the lowest 5% of all schools in the state.
Our school has not been given one of these labels.
The key challenges our school faces in regards to DATA presented in the AER are the fact that we do not have statistically significant data on any of our state reports due to small class sizes and sub groups.
In order to address the needs of all students, we look at trend data in several areas. Data is collected at least three times per year and reviewed. MEAP data is utilized as well as Dibels, Aimsweb and scantron performance series for all students. We have a tiered system for intervention and needs are addressed for students based on what the data tells us.
State law requires that we also report additional information.
